Meeting participants gather for a formal photograph outside of the general assembly office.

On 24th and 25th June 2024, representatives of the Church and Society Programmes of Livingstonia, Nkhoma and Blantyre synods met to discuss how they might cooperate in supporting the delivery of a free, fair and peaceful election in Malawi in 2025. The meeting was hosted and facilitated by the General Assembly.

Representatives discussed the current outlook ahead of the official election period and areas where the church can be supportive. As the largest Protestant denomination in Malawi, it was agreed that the church could do much through prayer and action to contribute to a peaceful election in the country.

There was also an opportunity to discuss other potential areas where the synods in Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe can collaborate to foster thriving and peaceful communities.

The meeting participants were as follows:

  • Rev Dr Mwawi Chilongozi, Secretary General, General Assembly
  • Rev McBowman Mulagha, Executive Director, Livingstonia CSP
  • Paul Mvula, MEL Manager and Governance Officer, Livingstonia CSP
  • Rev Donnex M Ngalande, Committee Chair, Blantyre CSP
  • Lindirabe G Mazinyani, Nkhoma CSP
